We are Registered Dietitians with over 15 years of combined experience working in a fast-paced hospital. Our work has shown us the limitations of treating illnesses quickly and reactively, and we believe more can be done instead with preventative health and wellness. Our growing passion for food and nutrition inspires us to find creative solutions to nutrition problems. That is why we decided to bring our expertise beyond the hospital walls and into your communities.

At Clever Belly, our goal is to help you build a better relationship with food, whether you have multiple health conditions, or none. Our evidence-based training and clinical experience, have equipped us to provide safe, effective and tailored nutrition support for you. Mona Kang RD

Mona Kang is a Registered Dietitian with over 9 years of work experience as a Clinical Dietitian. This includes more than 4 years as a preceptor for 5th-year University of British Columbia dietetic students at a large tertiary care hospital in BC, Canada. 

Mona graduated with a Bachelors of Home Science, and a Masters of Food and Nutrition in India, then practised for over 3 years as a Dietitian before moving to Canada. She then completed her dietetic internship through Vancouver Coastal Health and Fraser Health, and upon completion, started working as a Clinical Dietitian registered with the College of Dietitians BC.

Mona has worked in a variety of clinical settings ranging from acute medicine to the ICU. She has extensive experience in pre- and post- surgical nutrition, where she works with a multidisciplinary team to provide nutrition care (focusing on esophageal and gastrointestinal cancers) spanning from the time of cancer diagnosis, to when surgical treatment is needed .

Mona is fluent in English, Punjabi and Hindi and has a passion for linking nutrition and ethnic foods. When she is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her 2 children (aged 7 and 12) and loves seeing them play soccer, and being active as a family. She firmly believes in self care, which for Mona manifests in activities like practicing yoga, baking and cracking open a good book to read.

Nanette Ho RD

Nanette Ho is a Registered Dietitian with over 6 years of clinical experience working in a large tertiary care hospital in BC, Canada. She graduated with a BSc. majoring in Dietetics from the University of British Columbia in 2015, and is registered with the College of Dietitians BC. After gaining solid clinical experience in a variety of acute care settings, she decided to advance her skills and knowledge by pursuing post graduate education overseas. In 2018 to 2019, she earned her MSc. in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, then returned to Canada as a more well-rounded clinician. In the spirit of continuous learning, she also became a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician in 2019.

Since then, Nanette continues to practice medical nutrition therapy in a wide breadth of areas such as acute medicine, neurology, the ICU, and inpatient and outpatient pediatrics. She is dedicated to working with multidisciplinary teams to provide the best nutrition care for her clients.

Nanette is currently exploring her Chinese-Canadian identity, which includes attempting to re-create her grandmother’s Cantonese recipes. In her spare time, you can find her jogging, baking, perusing home goods stores, planning her next vacation, or watching shows/movies with her favourite people and snacks.
